Overview

I had the opportunity to try tropy-plugin-iiif, so this is a memo about it.

https://github.com/tropy/tropy-plugin-iiif

tropy-plugin-iiif is described as follows.

Tropy plugin to import IIIF manifests

Preparation

Install Tropy.

https://tropy.org/

Next, download the latest zip file from the following link.

https://github.com/tropy/tropy-plugin-iiif/releases/latest

Open Preferences > Plugins.

Click the “Install Plugin” button, select the downloaded zip file, and click “Enable”.

Installation is now complete.

Importing a IIIF Manifest

Select tropy-plugin-iiif from File > Import.

Select a separately downloaded IIIF manifest file (JSON file).

The IIIF manifest information was successfully imported as shown below.

The downloaded images were stored in the assets folder of the .tropy folder created for each project.

Reference: PDF Export

A PDF in the following format was created.

Item and image metadata are displayed for each page, which I found user-friendly.

Summary

This time I introduced the IIIF manifest import feature, but I heard that a plugin for exporting as IIIF collections is currently being developed.

By using Tropy, it seems possible to handle both data creation and publication in the future.

I hope this serves as a useful reference.
